AI isn't failing. It's exposing the lie.

What I actually think about the current state of AI adoption, and why operations is the missing layer.

Here's what I actually think.

For years, organizations have hidden operational dysfunction behind heroics, tribal knowledge, and individual effort. Heroes covered the gaps. Long hours filled in for missing process. Tribal knowledge stood in for documented decisions. It worked, sort of, as long as nothing forced the cracks to show.

AI doesn't tolerate that. It needs documented processes, clean data, and clear decision rights to work. So the reason AI adoption is 'failing' everywhere right now isn't that the technology is overhyped. It's that AI is the first technology in a generation that's forcing organizations to confront how dysfunctional they actually are.

The companies winning with AI aren't smarter about AI. They had their operational house more in order to start with. And the companies struggling aren't going to fix it by buying better tools. They're going to fix it by doing the operational work they've been avoiding for years.

That's the work I do.

AI doesn't fix broken organizations. It accelerates whatever is already happening.
